My spa adventure continues

For the past 5 years of absence, I have been to so many new places to heal my weary body and also my heart, sometimes.

I have gone to a lovely onsen in Japan@Kawalguichi. It was a most beautiful experience. Sitting in a huge hot tub, late November outside, with the view of Mt Fuji, yonder, are stuff dreams are made of.

I will provide more info soon. Suffice to say that ONSEN was a gem. Its popular with the locals. I did not spot any tourist whilst there. But if you have a tattoo, you are not welcomed there.

In the establishment, there's also a restaurant and massage services.

I will have to dig photos and info as this was about 5-6 years ago. This onsen is a true Gem.

Hopefully, I am able to spill the beans when you return!

Sawadee Thai Spa in Johor Bahru(Malaysia)

There are times when you are suddenly visited by the massage bug. This happened to me and hubby when we were in Johor Baru after doing our errands. We passed this area which has a few car workshops and we chanced upon a place called Sawadee Thai spa.

It looked legitimate with ample parking space.

As we entered we were greeted by the friendly receptionist.

I decided to do a 1hr aromatherapy body massage, while my husband decided to go for reflexology.

All reflexologist are males and body therapist are females.

The pathway towards the massage rooms are well planned with proper lighting for mood and pebbles to create an air of tranquility. Promising! Promising! I thought.

Then my therapist greeted and led me to my room. I was hopping for one of the rooms I had seen earlier. But instead I was led to one of the rooms behind with a massage bed. I was a little disappointed as the floor massage mattresses looked so inviting.

The therapist, a big set woman is from Northern Thailand. She was friendly.

The moment she set her therapeutic fingers on me all thought about the disappointed room choice vanished.

She was very good.

Massage on and untie all the little and big knots on my body. After endless Yoga practice, I needed this!!!

I was swept into La la land until I was told to turn and lie down on my back.

She did some Thai massage technics which opened up by back and totally relaxed it. She was sitted behind me she had my back curled as her knees balanced it.

Half way she left and came back to tell me that my husband has extended his reflexology session for another half an hour. It must be good too.

We both left extremely happy and satisfied with the service.

1hr aromatherapy massage and 1.5 hr reflexology cost us about SGD $60 in total.

Angsana Spa, Bintan Indonesia

Was in Bintan last week and upon a friend's recommendation, I went to the Angsana Spa.
I was not disappointed. It was exactly like how my friend described.

True service and pampering.

Before the treatment starts, the therapist enquired of any areas which need to be concentrated on when massaged. She asked if there are any allergies. Then we were encouraged to relax and take in the beautiful surrounding before treatment starts.

I opted for the Glow treatment.
Glow is a 120 minute session which is divided into, 30 minute body polish, 60 minute body massage and 30 minute calm time. For all that it was US$90++

The therapist hands were like butter on my skin when she began massaging.

She was obviously well trained. Throughout, she asked me if I was comfortable and if the pressure was alright.

Below the massage bed there was also an infusion of aromatherapy essential oils of my choice to relax me.

I left the spa feeling wonderful and can't wait to visit again.

That is not surprising, considering that Angsana Spa an off-shoot of the award winning Banyan Tree Spa is ranked among the best "Overseas Urban Day Spa" in the prestigious Conde Nast Traveller Readers' Spa Awards 2004.

Thai Odyssey, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Thai Odyssey has a few branches in Kuala Lumpur. They have authentic Thai therapists who do Thai traditional massages, reflexology and traditional oil massage.
I have been to two branches. The one at One Utama and the one at Bangsar Village. The Bangsar Village Branch is very nicely decorated whereas the one at One Utama is a little crammed. But the quality of massage is pretty the same.
In terms of front staff service, the one at Bangsar kept to the policy of a spa should be a place of relaxation and voice level should be at a minimal.
At One Utama, though there is a signage pasted on the wall advising clients to keep voice level at a minimal, its the voices of those at the reception that you hear when you are being massaged. This is something I thing they should take note of.
The therapists however are good and do their best to eradicate the knots in the muscles.

Spa ESPRIT, Holland Village, Singapore

This spa is Beautiful. I love the deco.

Went there when I was pregnant with my second child. My legs were aching and I needed someone to soothe it.

The moment I walked in the spa I was attended to and was ushered in the waiting area. It had beautiful lights and array of their in house products.

Within a few minutes my therapist ushered me into my treatment room. It was tastefully decorated and feel very relaxing.

My therapist was Indonesian from Batam who used to work with Banyan Tree.

She was very attentive. As it was a pre-natal massage she was gentle with me. I was about seven months pregnant then.

I paid $120 then for a 1hr massage.

If you want to pamper yourself in beautiful but unthreatening spa.... This is it!
